Kevin QUAST Obituary

Published by Edmonton Journal on May 30, 2017.
QUAST, Kevin Bruce
With a deep sense of sorrow and loss, our family announces the passing of Kevin Bruce Quast on May 25, 2017, at the age of 59.
His memory will be cherished by his loving family: wife, Sandra Quast; daughter Kira (Christopher) Gray; son Graham (Adrienne) Quast; three grandchildren: Ryker Gray, Merrick Gray, and Maeryn Quast; parents: John and Olive Quast; siblings: Tamra (Tom) Davison, Colin (Allison) Quast, Keith Quast and Leanne (Dallas) Quast.
Kevin was one of the most intelligent and gifted individuals any of us had the pleasure of knowing. He had a passion for teaching. He impacted and influenced countless lives during the years he practiced as a Professor of the New Testament and as Pastor of several churches. Many of his students entered Ministry and continue to share God's word. He had a keen passion for adventure and led his friends and family into many an adventure, most of which we are surprised to have survived. In addition to playing his Martin, Kevin loved to spend his free time riding horses and giving support and assistance to his family and friends in any way he could. His contributions to our lives will be sorely missed.
In life, Kevin was the most generous of people and he wished to continue that in death. Kevin insisted that any of his body that could be used to help others should be donated. He wished to be cremated.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, June 2, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church, 22550 Township Rd 530, Sherwood Park, AB. Memorial donations in Kevin's honour may be made to: The Mustard Seed, 10635 – 96 Street, Edmonton, AB, T5H 2J4, www.theseed.ca.

Four years...but I still find comfort in the kind words others have left. Thank you.

All this time and I am no closer to the answer. The question is: "why?". I've tried to learn not to ask and accept two things: an answer will not be forthcoming and it doesn't matter. What matters is I miss you.

You've got 3 year old twin grandsons, now. I can guarantee you never saw that coming (neither did I). I feel a lot of sorrow that they won't get to know you and you them...but, I get a good laugh imagining you playing with them. They'd have loved you.

You are still in my thoughts and the hole you left remains. Things were complicated before you died. The more time that passes the more of the complications fade away, until only one salient thought remains: I love you.

We are not better off without you. Addition by subtraction is nonsense and I wish you'd have discussed that theory with me (or some other accountant).

I hope you're laughing and strumming on a Martin, as you are in my memories.

Sandra,
I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Kevin. I just read about it in The Bridge. Please accept my heartfelt condolences and sympathies for you and your family. The pain of separation is so great, but we know we will see them again, and we can hang on to that knowledge while we walk the path of grief.

I was so sorry to hear of Kevin's passing. I will never forget how he sat by me while I was at the hospital the night before my mother, Mary Ives, died from pancreatic cancer. We both thought a lot of Kevin and how caring he was.

I will keep you all in my prayers.
