Avis Kuhring

Avis May Kuhring, 81, of Dieterich passed away at 11:13 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2008, at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Effingham. Funeral services celebrating the life of Avis will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church, Dieterich, with Pastor Stephen Gillet officiating. Burial will be in Dieterich Village Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Blake-Wright Funeral Home, Dieterich, and for one-half hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church or the donor’s choice. Avis was born May 31, 1927, in Chicago, the daughter of Ralph and Lucille (DeClements) Hamilton. She married Lorene Kuhring Dec. 12, 1945, and he preceded her in death July 19, 2007. She retired from Fedders after 30 years of service. Mrs. Kuhring was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the ladies aid. She enjoyed painting, drawing, crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren. Avis is survived by five children, Cheryl (Neil) Barnett of Mount Erie, Lorene (Belinda Kay) Kuhring of Dieterich, Kerry (Diane) Kuhring of Summerfield, Fla., Elaine (Jerry) Probst of Wheeler and Michael (Jodie) Kuhring of Dieterich; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Richard (Gail) Hamilton of Springfield; and sister, Ginger (Bud) Schackmann of Toledo. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and an infant brother.
