Dionna Span Obituary
Dionna attended Elgin Public Schools and was a member of various local dance teams. Following her marriage, she made her home in Kenosha, WI, and then moved to Mesa, AZ. Dionna was a beloved daughter, granddaughter, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend to many. Dionna enjoyed being around people and loved teaching her family how to play "Phase 10".
To cherish her memory are her husband, A.C. Span of Mesa, AZ, whom she married on August 3, 2001. Her parents; a sister, Krysta Hall; four nieces, MaKayla, KaMarie LeShelle, Karissa and Mariah Hall-Lee; her maternal grandmother, Beverly M. Ross; paternal grandmother, Sonja Hall all of Elgin; paternal grandfather, Fred (Sandy) Young of Detroit, MI; uncles, David Ross, of Milwaukee, WI, Todd and David Hall; and aunts, Marsha Caraway and Carla Hall all of Elgin, IL. Also to cherish her memory are her godparents, Debra Tewolde and Jerry Hall; and godson, DeVeon Johnson; several great-aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
Dionna was preceded in death by her grandfather, Odessa Ross; and her uncle, Darryl Ross.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at 12:00 p.m. at St. James A.M.E. Church, 1100 Summit St., Elgin, IL. Reverends Francis Y. Senyah and Dexter K. Ball will officiate. Burial will be held in Bluff City Cemetery. Visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Laird Funeral Home, Elgin is in charge of arrangements.

To the Ross and Span Families: I am sorry to hear of the passing of Dionna. My children grew up with the Ross Children and I worked with Beverly, Odessa and Daryl. My deepest sympathy. I am sorry it took me so long to give my condolences. I was trying to digest Dionna's untimely passing. The girls and I sat down and shared our memories of Dionna. Each memory was followed with a smile. What stood out amongst all of us the most was her heart – how enormous, how kind, how open, and how incredibly loving her heart was towards everyone.
We send our love, prayers and thoughts to Dionna's family and friends during this difficult, yet blessed time, as Dionna returns Home.
