Robert Stimets Obituary

Robert A. Stimets, Jr. Bob passed away on November 15, 2008. Words cannot express our feelings of great loss. He will be greatly missed by his friends and loved ones. Bob was born in Cambridge, MA, in 1933, the son of Al and Miriam Stimets. He graduated from the University of Connecticut, served in the army, and worked for 40 years as a timing engineer at White Sands Missile Range. Bob was an avid reader, a lifelong music aficionado, and a loyal fan of UTEP sports (in good times and bad). He is survived by his children Katherine Anne, Michael Raymond (and daughter-in-law Julie Burdey), Robert Andrew, and Diane Elizabeth (and fiance David Ramirez) and his five grandsons. Visitation and funeral services will be held at Sunset Funeral Home-East at 4:00 pm on Friday, November 21. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Oxfam International.

Mr. Stimets,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the U.S. Army during the Cold War. Millions of Americans slept safe at night because you and your fellow Servicemen stood ready to defend our Country. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
