RICHARD FEUILLE

RICHARD HARLAN FEUILLE (Rickie), 93, of El Paso, Texas, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 22, 2013, two days after celebrating 65 years of marriage to his beloved bride, Louann Hoover Feuille. He is also survived by daughter Louann Feuille Sanders, her husband William D. Sanders, their five children Richard, Pablo, Marianna and Christina Sanders and Amy O'Rourke, and ten grandchildren; son Richard Harlan Feuille, Jr., his wife Jane, their three daughters Joyce, Margaret and Elizabeth; son Robert Renick Feuille, his wife Michelle and his sons, Conrad Waggener, Jr. and Joseph and James Feuille, and five grandchildren; son James McDowell Preston Feuille, his wife Nancy Murray, their four children, Colin, Connor, Catherine and Claire Feuille; daughter Margaret Feuille Leachman, her husband Russell D. Leachman, their three children Benton, Boone, and Elizabeth. He is also survived by his sister Anne Feuille Simpson, and many cousins, nephews, nieces, other relatives, and dear friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank Feuille, Jr. and Margaret Levy Feuille, sisters Margaret Thompson and Edith Hoelle, brothers Frank Feuille III and Edmond Feuille, sons Joseph Livesay Feuille and Patrick Farnham Feuille, grandson Robert Renick Feuille, Jr., and nephew Frank Feuille IV. Rickie was born in Mexico City in 1920, one of six children of Frank Feuille, Jr. and Margaret Levy Feuille. After his father's death in 1926, his mother returned to El Paso to teach at Radford School. Rickie entered Dudley School at the age of six, speaking only Spanish. He graduated from El Paso High School. He was an avid tennis player and won several junior and senior tennis tournaments. He also qualified twice to play at the United States Lawn and Tennis Association Tournament at Forest Hills, now known as the U.S. Open. He attended the University of Virginia on athletic and academic scholarships. He was captain of the varsity tennis team and pledged Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. Rickie graduated from the University of Virginia Summa Cum Laude and was elected into Phi Beta Kappa in 1941. He entered the University of Texas School of Law in 1941 but left law school to enlist in the Army immediately after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. He served as the youngest non-flying Major in the Pacific, leading an Army unit that accompanied the Marine invasion of Iwo Jima. He was awarded the Bronze Star for valor and meritorious service, the Purple Heart, and was honorably discharged at the conclusion of the War. Upon his return from the Pacific theater, he entered the University of Virginia Law School, where he graduated Order of the Coif. In 1948, Rickie returned to El Paso to practice law, joining the firm of Jones, Hardie, Grambling and Howell, which later became known as Hardie, Grambling, Simms and Feuille. In 1957, Rickie joined the firm of Scott, Hulse, Marshall and Feuille, which later became known as Scott, Hulse, Marshall, Feuille, Finger & Thurmond, and now ScottHulsePC. He practiced law for more than 60 years in El Paso, serving as President of the El Paso Bar Association, serving as member of a variety of Bar committees, and performing countless hours of pro bono service. He was listed among the Best Lawyers in America. Rickie dedicated himself to the El Paso community, helping to establish such organizations as the El Paso Community Foundation, St. Clements School, and Coronado Country Club. He also served as President of the United Way of El Paso, Advisory Council of the University Of Texas at El Paso, El Paso Community Concert Association, United Fund Trust Fund of El Paso, Providence Memorial Hospital, El Paso Rotary Club, El Paso Tennis Club, and Chairman and Chairman Emeritus of the El Paso Community Foundation Board. He was recognized for his service by the American Heart Association, the National Conference of Christians and Jews, and the Rotary Club of El Paso. Rickie was a gifted athlete. In addition to being a decorated tennis player, Rickie was a better than scratch golfer and won many golf tournaments throughout the Southwest. Many of his closest friendships were forged and maintained on the golf course. Rickie devoted himself and his family to the Lord and served and supported numerous Christian organizations. He served as the Senior Warden and as a member of the Vestry of the Church of St. Clement, Chairman of the Board of St. Clement's School, Chairman of the Board of Our Lady's Youth Center, on the boards of Youth with a Mission El Paso/Juarez and Young Life, and numerous other organizations. He helped to establish the Christian Television Network and served on its board for many years. Services will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of St. Clement, 810 N. Campbell St., El Paso, Texas 79902, with a reception to follow at the Church. Rickie's grandsons will serve as the pallbearers: Richard David Sanders, William Paul Sanders, Joseph Patrick Feuille, James Michael Harlan Feuille, William Benton Leachman, and Richard Boone Leachman. Honorary pallbearers are William D. Sanders, Russell D. Leachman, J. Sam Moore, Jr., James Gallagher, Richard Munzinger, Stephen Tatem, Jr., Russell Hill, Leo Schuster, Jr., Walter Driver, and David Bernard. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Rickie's name to the Church of St. Clement, St. Clement's School, the El Paso Community Foundation, or Our Lady's Youth Center.
