Kathleen Muckinhaupt Obituary

Kathleen Miller Muckinhaupt, 54, of Erie, passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2018, at St. Vincent Health Center, following a lengthy illness. She was born in Pittsburgh, on January 11, 1964, a daughter of Jerry C. Miller, Sr. and the late Theresa "Terri" Cianella Miller.

Kathleen was a 1982 graduate of Mercyhurst Prep and went on to graduate from the St. Vincent School of Nursing in 1984. She worked at Hamot Medical Center for over 15 years as an RN, a psychiatric nurse with Hamot Behavioral Health, and a CPR instructor. She also worked at Millcreek Community Hospital and most recently at Safe Harbor Behavioral Health. She was a member of Grandview Alliance Church. Being with family and being an active member in her church were very important to her. She enjoyed reading, video games, amusement parks, roller coasters, and animals.

In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband, James Muckinhaupt; one daughter, Julie Sternberg and her husband, Michael, of Jamestown, N.Y.; one grandson, Felix; one brother, Jerry Miller, Jr. and his wife, Julie, of Erie; and many nieces and nephews, to whom she was very close.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and are invited to services at Grandview Alliance Church on Wednesday at 12 noon. Burial will be private in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the ANNA Shelter, 1555 E. 10th St., Erie, PA 16511, or to the Benevolent Fund at Grandview Alliance Church, 1102 E. Gore Road, Erie, PA 16504.

Sending prayers and condolences to the family and friends in the loss of this beautiful girl. Growing up she and her friends spent as much time at our house as their own and we loved them as much as our own. She was sweet and funny and kind and I will never forget her laugh. Rest with the angels (you and Nita have much to catch up on).

I am sending heartfelt condolences to Kathy's family. I am deeply saddened by this shocking news. She was a beautiful person inside and out and I enjoyed the few times we really got to spend together. I know her faith was strong and God has taken her home to be whole, healthy, and happy again. Kathy is in my prayers, as is her family. She will be missed by so many. God Bless, Darleen and David Wilkinson
