Bernard Yannetti Obituary
Bernard A. Yannetti, 70, of Barlow Street, Gettysburg, died Monday, Aug. 16, 2004, at The Gettysburg Hospital. He was born Nov. 30, 1933, in Lansford, Pa., the son of the late Roger and Albina Spinelli Yannetti. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Gettysburg. He graduated from Lansford High School in 1951 and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Air Force Military Police from 1951 until 1954. He was a member of the Pennsylvania State Police from 1956 until his retirement in 1983, and he served as the victim witness coordinator for the Adams County District Attorney's Office. He served as the warden at the Adams County Prison for seven years and at the time of his death, he was the Adams County jury commissioner. He was a member of the Retired State Police Association of Pennsylvania, The American Association of State Troopers, the National Retired Troopers Association, the Fraternal Order of Police (Keystone Lodge #44), a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus, the Albert J. Lentz Post 202 of the American Legion, the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Gettysburg, the Elks Club of Gettysburg, the VFW Post #15 of Gettysburg, the Buchanan Valley Rod & Gun Club, the Pennsylvania Association of Retired State Employees, the 40 & 8 and a past president of the Gettysburg Little League. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Ann Figura Yannetti; a son, Bernard A. Yannetti Jr. of Gettysburg; a daughter, Susan E. Yannetti of Los Angeles, Calif.; two grandchildren, Madelyn and Michael; and a number of nieces. He was predeceased by two brothers, Vincent Yannetti and Peter Yannetti. Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 20, with a mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 22 W. High St., Gettysburg, with Father Bernardo Pistone celebrant. Interment will be in St. Ignatius Cemetery, Orrtanna, Pa. The family will receive friends at the Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, on Thursday, Aug. 19, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Francis Xavier School, 22 W.
