Fay Fix Obituary

Williamsport - Fay Heischman Fix, 96, Williamsport, passed away in the St. Vincent Williamsport Hospital, on Wednesday, September 21, 2011, at 8:30 a.m.
Fay was born in Attica, Indiana on September 25, 1914. He was the son of the late Eldo and Margaret Heischman Fix. Fay graduated from Pine Village High School in 1932 and has lived most of his life in Williamsport.
Fay formerly farmed with his father and later worked for the Department of Agriculture for 42 years. He started as a crop reporter and later managed the Warren County A.S.C.S. for several years. Fay later worked in the State A.S.C.S. office and was a State Committeeman. He served as District Director for 10 years. Fay transferred to Benton County A.S.C.S. in 1969 and in 1981 was the Indiana recipient of the Administrator's Award for Excellence of Service to Agriculture. He served for 27 years in the Benton County office of the A.S.C.S. and retired on November 1, 1996. Fay received the Sagamore of the Wabash from then Governor Evan Bayh at his retirement.
On April 24, 1941, Fay married LaVernne Garriott in Royal Center. They are survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Colonel Floyd Fix and Ray Fix.
Services were held at Maus Funeral Home, Attica on Saturday, Sept. 24th with Charles B. Anderson officiating. Burial followed in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica.
