Harold E. Freund
of rural Fond du Lac "Dotyville" - Harold E. Freund, 93, of rural Fond du Lac "Dotyville", passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at St. Agnes Hospital.
He was born February 24, 1927, in the Town of Taycheedah to Louis & Alma (Steffen) Freund.
Harold attended St. Peter's Catholic Grade School. On September 13, 1952, he married Dorothy Baganz at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Dotyville.
He had worked at S. Kern Farm, Henry Wettstein Farm (which was like a second home to him), Tolibia Cheese, and retired from Mercury Marine after being employed there for 24 ½ years. He thoroughly enjoyed a hard-days work.
He was a member of St. Isidore Parish-Holy Cross Church in Mount Calvary and a member of the Knights of Columbus in Fond du Lac.
Harold enjoyed times spent with his children, grandchildren, & great-grandchildren. He was happy rocking the newest baby or spending time at their various activities. He & Dorothy enjoyed traveling throughout Canada & the USA; visiting all but two states (Utah & Maine). Harold also enjoyed playing cards, bowling, mowing lawns, taking car rides, & also the occasional casino trips.
Harold is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dorothy; his three children, Jean (Tom) Schneider of Waupun, Allen (Maureen "Bear") Freund of Fond du Lac, and Robert (Dawn) Freund of Fond du Lac "Dotyville"; his grandchildren, Rich (Jennifer) Schneider, Ron (Pam) Schneider, Joe (Jessica) Schneider, Sara (Jason) Immel, Mark (Renae) Freund, Lindsey (Russel) Schneider, Louis Freund, and Samantha Freund; step grandchildren, Ed Wagner (fiancée, Courtney) and Andrew (Sara) Wagner; his great-grandchildren, Ali, Lainee, Kailee, Nicholas, Erin, & Abigail Schneider, Oliver, Simon, & Wyatt Immel, Matthew & Bradley Freund, Leah & Lola Schneider; step great-grandchildren, Emily & Brandon Gumm, and Evelyn Wagner; his sister, Bernadette (Leo) Gruenke; sisters-in-law, Rosemary Kutz & Ione Baganz. He is further survived by nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his sisters, Marcella (Ray) Woelfel, Marie (Jerome) Liebe, Irene (Art) Schlefke, Edna (Frank) Amrhein, and Stella (Ted) Beaudreau; brothers, Francis & Norman Freund, Ervin (Gladys) Freund, and SGT First Class Aloysius Freund (MIA); and two brothers-in-law, Norm Kutz and Ed Baganz.
A Liturgy Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at St. Isidore Parish-Holy Cross Church, 308 County Road W, Mount Calvary, WI 53057. Rev. Gary Wegner, OFM Cap will officiate. Inurnment will take place at Calvary Mausoleum in Fond du Lac.
Visitation: Family and friends may visit with Harold's family at the church in Mount Calvary on Saturday, February 13th from 9:30 AM until 11:15 AM.
Current Covid-19 guidelines, such as mask requirement and social distancing will be adhered to.
