FITCHBURG -- Anita Mary (Cormier) Niemi, 94, formerly of Madison Street, died Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at Golden Living Center, Fitchburg.

Mrs. Niemi was predeceased by her husband, Alfred A. Niemi Sr., in April 2005.

Mrs. Niemi was born in Fitchburg, October 23, 1920, one of eleven children born to Clovis and Genevieve (LeBlanc) Cormier and was a lifelong resident of Fitchburg. She was a 1938 graduate of St. Bernard's Central Catholic High School in Fitchburg and continued her education at Stevens Business School also in Fitchburg.

Throughout the years, Mrs. Niemi worked as a bookkeeper at several local companies including Weyerhaeuser, John Hancock Insurance and Aubuchon Hardware Company in Westminster.

She attended St. Joseph's Church in Fitchburg.

She leaves three sons and daughters-in-law, Alfred A. and Jane Niemi Jr. of Paxton, Robert J. Niemi and Constance Dufour of Burlington, VT, Tom S. and Anne Marie Niemi of Fitchburg; a daughter, Karen M. Niemi of Fitchburg; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was the sister of the late Francis Cormier, Hervey Cormier, Lillian Dextraze, and Margaret Gaudet, all of Fitchburg, Robert Cormier of Cranford, NJ, George Cormier of Vista, AZ, Bertha Cormier, Irene Soucy and Jeannette Cormier, all of Gulfport, Florida.

NIEMI -- A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 A.M., Monday, April 27, 2015 at St. Joseph's Church, 49 Woodland Street, Fitchburg. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
