Gabrielle F. Leger, 87

FITCHBURG -- Gabrielle F. (Forget) Leger, 87 of Fitchburg, died Saturday, August 20, in the UMASS Memorial Healthcare Center in Worcester after a short illness.

She was born in Fitchburg on October 24, 1928 a daughter of the late, Adrian and Marie Rose (Deschenes) Forget and has lived here all of her life. She was a 1946 graduate of St. Bernard's High School.

Gabrielle was a loan manager at the former Cleghorn Credit Union and many years ago had been a bookkeeper at the former Isabelle Hardware Store in Fitchburg.

She was lifelong member of St. Joseph's Parish where several years ago she sang in the Choraleers. She was also a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and was an avid reader. She also cherished spending time with her family.

Her husband of 51 years, Alferi J. Leger died in 2006. She leaves a son, Ronald L. Leger and his wife Helen of Orono, ME; two daughters, Constance I. Pelletier and her husband George of Templeton and Elaine M. Ordway and her fiancé John Bunting of Fitchburg; two brothers, Albert Forget of Gardner and Leo Forget of Fitchburg; a sister, Irene M. Cheries of Ashburnham; five grandchildren, Brooke Leger-Tenney and her husband Arvid of Gardner, Lyndsay Smyth and her husband Thomas of Windham ME, Morgan Leger-Ouellette and her husband Adam of Arundel ME, Michael Neely of Orange, MA and Matthew Neely and his wife Heidi of Fitchburg; three great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Connor Ouellette and Lincoln Neely and several nephews and nieces.

In addition to her husband she is predeceased by a great-grandson, Calvin Neely; two brothers, Marcel and Camille and a sister Adrien Desroche.

LEGER -- Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, Aug. 25, at 10:30 AM in St. Joseph's Church, 49 Woodland St., Fitchburg. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. A calling hour will be held prior to the funeral from 9 to 10 AM in the Isabelle and Anderson Funeral Home, 316 Clarendon St., Fitchburg. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Boston Children's Hospital Trust, in memorial of Calvin Neely, 401 Park Drive Suite 602, Boston, MA 02215 or to the Alzheimer's Association of Massachusetts, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
