To the entire Maki family . Carole and I are sorry for your loss of Walter. He was a kind man and a gentleman. We will never forget our dinner we had with Walter and Terry In Hawaii during our Honeymoon . Walter and Terry insisted we have dinner with them , because they couldn't make our wedding back in mass .We had a great night with them. When we arrived at our hotel room in Hawaii we found flowers and Champagne from Walter and Terry.Walter gave me sound advise in the beginning of my employment with Maki's , I didn't realize at the time he was looking out for me and my family , but when I came back to Maki's in 2000 , I was sure to utilize what he had tried to get me to understand all those years before !! May he be resting in peace !!

Dear Terry,
I am very sorry to hear of your husband's passing. In reading his obituary, I learned about a wonderful husband, father and successful businessman. I wish I had known him. You both had a great life together with your large family and many foreign travels. I may see you in October.
In sympathy from your '45 classmate Alice Taylor Seaman

Dear Mrs. Maki and Glenn, kindly accept the heartfelt condolences and sincere sympathy of our family to you and your family upon the loss of your husband and father.
I first met Walter [and Glenn] in the early 1970s. Walter had built an excellent reputation as a general contractor over the years and just recently opened his new building supply business in Lunenburg. From what I recall he had mostly family and a few co-workers employed there.
Walter was working outside when I pulled into the stock yard in a very used 1956 Ford pickup and he help me load some material onto the truck himself. He said, “I use to own a truck just like this.” I replied, “The only difference is that you probably bought yours brand new?” He laughed and we exchanged some light conversation about business and family as we moved about the yard loading my truck.
When he learned that I had just started my business, Walter suggested that I should buy some used equipment from him. When I explained that money was short, he made me an offer that I could not refuse: Take the equipment and pay when you can.
A few round-trips later, after I had picked through and loaded the equipment I needed, I went to thank Walter and, of course, ask him if there was anything that I could do to repay his kindness and generosity. He grinned and replied, “Just don't let me see your truck at Webber [Building Supply]. Well, Webber is long gone, but over the years as the Maki businesses grew so did Walter's reputation and generosity.
