Dwight Webster Obituary

Dwight Harold Webster

Merritt Island, FL

Dwight H. Webster, 61, passed from this life on Monday, November 25th. He is survived by daughters Layla Anson (David) and Candace Haggard(Caylon) granddaughters Astrid, Alyse,Cardin and Camden, his significant other Peg Gagne and brothers Bill (Renee), Steve (Libbie), and Scott (Linda). Additional loved ones include neice, Shannon Webster Cross(Everet); nephews, Jason Webster, Clay Webster(Cara), Ryan Webster(Sarah), Jeremiah Webster and Dean Webster. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Virginia Webster.

Dwight played both ways at the tackle position for Merritt Island high in the late sixties and surfed with style in Cocoa Beach and Costa Rica.

While in the Navy, Dwight did a tour of duty on the Nimitz and later, headed up the Honor Guard detail for the base in San Diego.

His favorite Nascar drivers were Darrel Waltrip and Matt Kenseth. Dwight's caustic wit and overall sense of humor were well-appreciated. He was generous to his friends and family; he'd give you a wave, and he had your back in a fight. A bright and loving man, we wish we could have had him with us longer.

A memorial service will be held on December 7, 1:00 at Grace Methodist Church on Merritt Island.

My deepest sympathy to Dwight's family and friends. Dwight was a very special person to all. He was always there with a hug, a smile and a laugh to brighten your day. I will always treasure the fun times at MIHS and hanging at the beach with the gang. My friend, you will be missed but i know you are smiling at us now.

When I moved to Merritt Island in 1963, Dwight was the first friend that I made. As an Alabama boy, the only time that I had seen citrus was in the store. Dwight introduced me to the different grooves. That was so cool for me. He tried his best to teach me to surf, but , their was no hope for me. He replaced me on the USS Nimitz and we stayed in touch that way. For a while we exchanged Christmas cards. Now, I regret that I did not stay in closer contact. I will truly miss you my friend. You never know how much you need someone until you can't call on them.
