Ronald Schmidl Obituary
Family and friends are invited to join together for a Celebration of Life for Ron from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday (May 1, 2021) at the Elks Lodge, 133 Main St., Penn Yan.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to Keuka Comfort Care Home, 35 State Route 54, Penn Yan, NY 14527.
He was born on April 29, 1937. Ron moved to Penn Yan with his wife Bonnie over 60 years ago. He retired from Penn Yan Express after 36 years when he started his own business, Ron Schmidl and Son General Contracting. He was a loyal husband and loving father and grandfather. Ron made many friends over his lifetime both in Penn Yan and in Florida, where he vacationed with his wife during the winter. Ron was a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge and a member of the Moose Lodge in Penn Yan. Work was his passion and his life.
Ron is survived by his wife of 62 years, Bonnie Fries Schmidl; three children Rhonda (John) Goodell and Matthew Todd (Kate) Schmidl of Penn Yan, Lori (Boe) Hall of Timberlake, N.C.; four grandchildren and two step-grandchildren Megan Goodell, Preston Goodell, JT (Ashlyn) Hall, Jeffrey Hall, Michael Ferguson, Jessica Ferguson; and two great-grandchildren Madison Lewis and Maya Leist; a sister, Sharon Helton of Penn Yan; and brother, Gerald (Carolyn) Schmidl of Stanley, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
Ron was predeceased by his parents Harold Schmidl and Elma (Thomas) Grady; and a sister, Nancy (Harold) Naragon of Penn Yan.
