MADBURY - Robert D. Monroe, 54 of Littleworth Rd., died Thursday April 4, 2013.

Born in Sanford, Maine October 28, 1958 the son of Regina and Leon Monroe, Jr.

For many years, Rob and his first wife, Carla Hashem-Monroe owned R & C Monroe Trucking. He later was a heavy equipment operator having worked for Griffin Construction, Gove Construction and Bentley Warren Trucking. He was fondly known by his handle "Turtle".

Rob opened his home to many family members including grampy and his mother-in-law, Pauline Hashem for the past 13 years. People often said "Robbie would give the shirt off his back for his family and friends". He and his wife, Maria have had many animals they have cared for and loved over the years.

Family includes his wife of 13 years, Maria Hashem-Monroe; three children, Justin D. Monroe, Robert Day, Jr. and wife, Katherine and Kayla Keronen; one granddaughter, Isabella Day; sister, Linda Hussey and husband, Peter and their daughter, Melissa Hussey; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Kim Hashem-Dugal and David Duval and their children, Matthew and Amanda; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Carla Hashem-Monroe in 1997, his brother, Gary Monroe, in-laws, Frank and Pauline Hashem, sister-in-law, Roxanne Ramsey, niece, Tanya Hussey, and close friend, Doc.

The family would like to thank Dr. Diaz and Wentworth-Douglass Hospital CCU for their care and compassion and also his friends Jeff, Jason, Billy and police chief Joe McGann.

Visiting hours will be Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. with the funeral at 4 p.m. at Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave., Dover. Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday in Madbury Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the family.
