Mr. Boyle was a kind and gentle man who inspired a lot of students in his life, including my two children, when he was principal at Strafford Elementary School. He will be missed by all who knew him. Condolences to his family.

My condolences to the Boyle family. I had the good luck of having Mr Boyle as a teacher, principal, sports coach, PE instructor and mentor at Strafford Elementary in the years 1972-74. As a coach he would load up his station wagon with the majority of the baseball team and off we would go to a neighboring town for a game. As a home room teacher he was great and always instrumental in helping us organize fundraisers for our class trip. He was available to any student for helping us through our adolescence. I would run into him in later years and he would always ask about my five siblings by name, that always impressed me. A great man who will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him, of that I'm sure.

You are missed Dad. Always in our hearts.
Hi Dad, its a weekend day, sometime in the 1960s, You are at the counter making bacon and eggs on the electric skillet, toast in the toaster, and big band music filling the house with glorious sounds, occasionally whistling, occasionally humming, asking how do you want your eggs, over easy or sunny side up, the smell of bacon already cooked permeating the air, and once in a while you might hear a song and reminisce, saying I remember when I first heard this song, it was. and regale us with a story of where you were, who you were with, and what you were doing, the consummate story teller, always with a ready tale.
And later, after a day of fun, and as the day was ending, you were sitting in your chair, reading, the same music playing, and your arms moving as if to conduct music, eyes closed. And humming.
And then it was bed time and you would visit us one by one, read to us, a story or a poem. A dedicated Dad, you cared for your family deeply, and lived your life in concert with the ethos that you would help each of us create the life we aspired to.
Hey Dad, how do others remember you? Each of us have unique ways we remember you, based on who you were for us, and when we met you. As Husband. As Dad. As Grampy. As Uncle Dick. As a brother in law. As a friend, coworker, coach, mentor, teacher, neighbor, customer, fellow board member.
As I talked to many of the people here, I listened to the words they used to describe you. Ill list them for you, Dad. Their words, of the man I was lucky enough to call Dad.

Dad, you are a man of simple tastes. Your favorite foods included hot dogs and macaroni and cheese, and iced tea or a diet doctor pepper, perhaps an occasional snack of cheez its. You enjoyed your books, reading when you could. You would be at all our games and activities, and when we grew up, you came to our kids games.
You lived your life in service to your country, your community, your Church, and your family. Whether as a reporter, an editor, a serviceman in the Air Force, a board member, a teacher, a principal or a coach, you were selfless and prepared to help any who needed your help. You loved your sports, especially the Braves and Red Sox, and you shared your love of baseball with all of us children, each of us having our own unique memories of time spent at Fenway and other ballparks watching the games.
Its so telling that when you got your degree, going to night school while in the service, it was in History. You loved story, and would always have the most incredible stories of everything you did and everyone you knew. You had a most amazing memory. Your degree allowed you to pursue your passion, teaching. You saw the possibility in the face of every student, motivating them to excel and reach their potential and beyond.
Dad, a friend of mine from India wrote me recently that he took solace in his faith, which believes souls are eternal and never die, and that beautiful souls come to the mortal world for a specific purpose. Dad you were and are and always will be a beautiful soul, and your purpose was to show us how to be the best a man can be. There can be no doubt that you are now sitting amongst angels and sometimes with our departed Uncles playing cribbage and bid whist.
All you ever asked of us is our best, and Dad, well try to be that best to honor your memory. And when we slip a bit, or deviate, as we inevitably will, we know youll be there in spirit to encourage us to get up and try again, always moving forward, just that calm voice, saying Try again, I know you can do it. Do your best.
I think I speak for everyone here, when I say thank you Dad, for a life well lived, for being a role model we can all aspire to be. Rest now Dad, your work is done. Know that we will honor your memory and your life every day, and tell your story. And inspired by your story, find ways to be there for others. We love you Dad! Rest now.

Dear Jean and family, Our deepest sympathy for your loss. Our family connections through Joan , Lucien and Ernie were special during my growing years, were special. I still remember his encouraging phone call when we were both stationed in Thailand in the 70s. I know he will be sorely missed but he is in the arms of his Lord and Savior now, and for that reason we must all take solace. My mother Genevieve, who Dick knew well, died on the same date in 1996. They are enjoying the joys of eternal life together.
God Bless you all in this sad time,
Ray and Betty Blanchette

You were a tremendous help to me as a young teacher and coach in the mid 90's at St. Elizabeth Seton school. When I transitioned from P.E. to math you were instrumental in that process, all the while encapsulating me with stories of Ted Williams and other sports stars of yesteryear. Later on it became one of the great pleasures of my life to coach your grandson Jake in basketball. Rest in Peace and love my friend.
