Charles Fulks Obituary

Charles Byron Fulks, 79, of Falling Waters, WV, passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at Berkeley Medical Center. Born August 11, 1941 in Tacoma Park, MD, he was the son of the late McKendree and Mildred (Main) Fulks.

Charles graduated from Gaithersburg High School in 1960, and from Roberts Wesleyan College in 1964. He served in the U.S. Army from 1964-1969, achieving the rank of 1st Lieutenant before being honorably discharged to pursue a career in the private sector. He was a proud life member of NRA, American Legion, and Toy Soldier Club. He loved plants and was the owner and operator of Farmer Fulks' Greenhouse in Gaithersburg, MD for forty years. He also enjoyed model railroads, toy soldiers, war games, and most of all, his granddaughters. Charles is survived by his wife of 49 years, Dorothy Fulks; son, Joseph Byron; daughter, Suzanna Roulette (husband, Anthony); three granddaughters, Phoebe Fulks, Anna Roulette, and Grace Roulette; sister, Linda Ann Moore; two brothers, M.R. Fulks (wife, Judy) and John D. Fulks (wife, Linda); several nieces and nephews; and his best buddy, John Verna (wife, Lyn). Chuck Fulks
1941 - 2021
My Big Brother

Over these many years, I have met, and battled with, and played with, and worked with, and debated with, lead and followed many men but Chuck Fulks was truly the most genuine. Farmer, cavalryman, patriot, Republican, philosopher, artist, churchman, father, husband, son, teaser-in-chief, mentor and friend; full of fun and mischief, kind and fierce, generous and wise, frustrating and calming; Chuck was my best friend, my older brother, my close confident, my partner in fun and conflict. Chuck made everyone around him feel important and worthwhile. He inspired and that is enough. I can’t quite see him now. No, I can’t quite see him now. He has slipped away for the moment. He has moved to the high ground. I will search for him, for we are destined to meet again.

Uncle Chuck will be greatly missed by all of our extended family. He had a wonderful sense of humor, was so artistically talented, lived a good Christian life, and loved his family and friends. I have fond memories growing up staying often with him, my aunt, and my cousins. I was always amazed at the huge greenhouses, as well as his toy soldiers, and of course his elaborate train sets. I cherish the memories of our many large family dinners and holidays through the years. We will miss him so much but know we will meet again one day in heaven. Prayers and love to Aunt Dottie, Joe, Phoebe, Suzie, Anthony, Anna, & Grace.
Love,
Sara (& Stephen, Luke, & Seth)

Never knew Mr. Fulks, but befriended his amazing son, Joe, in college. I’m so glad we’ve “KIT” via FB. Often, his posts alone, brighten my day. I can only imagine his father was equally charming, a great legacy to leave behind! ❤
