Willie Schofield Obituary
Southfield - December 30, 1939 - March 30, 2021
At the age of 81 (due to acute kidney failure) Willie peacefully made his transition in his home in Southfield, MI on March 30, 2021.
As a rhythm and blues singer/songwriter during the great age of Doo-Wop, Willie wrote songs such as "You're So Fine," and "I Found a Love," while a member of the group "The Falcons."
He also recorded dozens of songs on the Lupine, Flame, Decca and Mercury record labels.
(The Falcons: Composed of - Lance Finney, Eddie Floyd, Sir Mac Rice, Willie Schofield and Joe Stubbs).
He went on to become a Sargent in the United States Army, was honorably discharged, and served as an army reservist.
Willie later wrote a couple of tunes on the "The Dells vs the Dramatics" album. (Tune up and Bring Back the Love of Yesterday), he also co-wrote a song on Smokey Robinson & The Miracles album "Pocket Full of Miracles" (Don't Take It So Hard).
Willie retired from the Ford Motor Company in 1995 after 32 years of service.
As seen on TV One's "Unsung" program, Willie was instrumental in discovering the great "Wicket" Wilson Pickett who was also briefly a member of the Falcons ensemble.
In August of 2016 Willie along with the Falcons were inducted into the "Rhythm and Blues" Hall of Fame.
His hobbies included playing the piano and golfing where he got the rare "hole in one" at his favorite neighborhood golf course "Evergreen" in Southfield, Michigan. The golf course is also where he made many new friends.
Willie loved purchasing the latest model of Ford/Lincoln luxury vehicles, and driving his wife (Doris) to Las Vegas, NV for 28 consecutive years. The road trip itself was everything! He enjoyed showering his daughter (Debra) with gifts. We laughed at how he often tried to complete her home décor before she could.
He is survived by the love of his life; his wife Doris, daughter Debra, brother-in-law's Claude and Keith, sister-in-law Vendella, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Willie will be honorably interned at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
The family thanks everyone for their wonderful words of praise and support during this time.

I was bless to have met Willie many years ago. I was a salesman @ Star Lincoln and he purchased several Lincoln from me. He may be gone but he will never be forgotten. I am praying for God's intervention and comfort during this time of loss. My condolences to the family

I met Willie Schofield at the Evergreen Golf Course in Southfield, MI. Willie , Ron Marine(also now passed away) were a trio who always played together.
I did not realize how famous Willie was until Ron told me about his musical background. Willie never mentioned it to me(that's how modest he was).
I have the greatest regards about Willie Schofield. He was such a fine gentleman and carried himself that way. I am privileged to have known him and I offer my sincerest condolence to his wife and family.

Willie Schofield was one of the greatest voices, writers and people the music industry ever had. The Stubbs family loved Willie. He sang with my brother, Joe Stubbs.

My condolences to Willie Schofield’s family. He was a very nice person. He and Mack Rice attended my brother Wilson’s Funeral in 2006, Louisville, KY. It was good to meet him after hearing so many good things about him from Wilson. Rest In Peace.
