Classic Jesuit, great guy. Thought of him often.
Those of us who had him for instruction will recall the energy and selflessness he brought to the experience.
Will miss him.

Had Father O'Reilly as a student at St. Ignatius for Theology. Was a great educator and certainly a high point of my educational experience at Ignatius.

Fr. Jim was my pastor when I came through the RCIA. He was a wonderful listener and was so very wise in the ways of the Lord. His patient, kind guidance was a light for me in times of great darkness. Rest in the arms of Jesus, Fr. Jim. I'll see you again someday.

Father O'Reilly, you said that you were going soon, and asked us to pray for you. Now, you please pray for us before the Throne of God.
We love you and we'll miss you.

Long before the thirty-second General Congregation of the Jesuits in 1975 where Father Pedro Arrupe, S.J. set forth his mission of "Service of Faith and the Promotion of Justice", Father O'Reilly created the Christian Action Movement (C.A.M.) at St. Ignatius High School in 1966. CAM members were organized into apostolates to get students involved in community service to help people in need in the inner City of Cleveland. Students volunteered to provide tutoring at various inner city grade schools and at the West Side Community Center, assisting patients at St. John's Hospital, and creating recreational programs at St. Patrick's and at Parmadale. CAM members organized the most successful canned food drive for needy west side families at Christmas. "Men For Others" was created in large part due to the actions of this priest. May he rest in peace.
