Charles (Chuck) Frederick Wenrich

Grosse Pointe Woods - Charles (Chuck) Frederick Wenrich, 95, of Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan passed away on Monday, February 1st, 2021. Chuck was born on December 14th, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Fred and Sarah Wenrich.

Chuck is preceded in death by his beloved wife Carolyn of 61 years, and survived by his son Erik Wenrich and wife Lori (Angelosanto), grandchildren Douglas, Thomas, and David Wenrich, and late brother Douglas Ellsworth Wenrich.

Chuck served active military duty in the 104th "Timberwolf" Division, 413th Infantry Regiment, Company "K" from 1944 - 45, and enlisted in the US Naval Reserve from 1947 - 52. Chuck became a Police Officer in 1951 and retired as a Lieutenant and Fire Marshall in 1986 after 35 years of service for the city of Grosse Pointe Shores, Michigan.

A loving father and grandfather, Chuck was well liked and respected amongst his family, friends, and social network. He grew up playing baseball and was a pitcher in a minor Detroit baseball league before serving in the military. Chuck was passionate with physical fitness, weightlifting, and acrobatics. He enjoyed dancing with his wife Carolyn and frequented ballrooms such as the Vanity and Graystone in Detroit. He was an active member in his church and participated in communion outreach services. He was also an avid gardener and kept an award-winning rose and flower garden with his wife. Chuck will be greatly missed by all of those that knew and loved him.

Due to Covid restrictions, the family will have a private memorial service at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan.
