LLOYD EDWARD HOVLAND

Lloyd Hovland was born in Minneapolis, MN, on March 31, 1926, to Hans and Laura Hovland, and passed away on January 27, 2017, in Fresno, CA. He attended and graduated from Roosevelt High School, Minneapolis, MN, and Woodbury College, Los Angeles, CA, and received his Bachelor of Arts in Art and Business Management. He joined the United States Army Air Corps in 1944, and was honorably discharged in 1945. He married Myranel B Taggart on August 9, 1947, and together they had two daughters. He was president and owner of Hovland Advertising from 1962 to 2015, and the Outdoor Company from 1977 to 2016. Lloyd was a well known artist, and even had one of his paintings on the cover of Sports Afield magazine. His hobbies included traveling, fishing, golfing, woodworking, a life long fan of the Los Angeles Lakers and Minnesota Vikings, an avid card player of rummy 500 and Bridge, and sold oil paintings and prints through the Outdoor Company. Lloyd was a member of the Fresno Lion's Club, Ad Club of Fresno, CA, Calvary Presbyterian Church of Fresno, CA, and the Youth for Christ Board Member of Fresno, CA. He was preceded in death by both his parents, Hans and Laura Hovland; and his sister, Inez Walker. He is survived by his loving wife, Myranel B Hovland; daughters, Carol Hovland-Mitchell and her husband Brent, and Lora Hovland; granddaughter, Lindsey Paul and her husband John; grandson, Blake Mitchell and his wife Liz, grandson, Kyle Reich; grandson, Ian Reich; great-granddaughter, Natalie Mitchell; and great-granddaughter, Naomi Mitchell. A private Memorial Service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fresno Lion's Club; or Youth for Christ.
