Dorothy Marius Obituary

DOROTHY LUCILLE MARIUS Dorothy Lucille Marius passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 17, 2002. Dorothy was born in Texarkana, Arkansas, on December 25, 1939, the daughter of Georgia Lee Thompson and Walter Montgomery. Dorothy was joined in holy matrimony with Fitzalbert M. Marius on December 2, 1967. She is the mother of three boys, has five grandsons, and one granddaughter. Dorothy's education began at Lincoln Elementary School in Fresno, California. She graduated from Edison High School, received an A.A. degree at Fresno City College, a B.A. degree in Teaching at California State University, a Masters Degree in Vocational Rehabilitation at California State University, Fresno, and earned teaching credentials in primary education, secondary education, administration, and special education. She was also a few units short of a masters in Family Counseling at the Mennonite Brethrens Biblical Seminary. She worked for the Fresno Unified School District as a counselor until she retired. Dorothy loved the Lord and was active in Christian services: teaching Sunday School, serving as speaker on Christ related issues for women, and a facilitator at Christian seminars and workshops. She served for many years as the Sunday School Superintendent of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, and Family Community Church. One of her discerning statements that will continue to bless us all was, "We would all be better Christians, if we would just go with what we already know." Visitation will be held at Jesse E. Cooley, Jr., Funeral Services, Thursday, September 26, 2002, from 5:00 P.M. to 8 P.M. and Friday, September 27, 2002, from 9:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. Her services will be held at Family Community Church located at 2434 E. Nees Avenue at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 28, 2002. Interment immediately following services at Belmont Memorial Park. I Remember.

I pray that my daughters turn out like Dorothy. Even though she has left us, her teachings live on. I pray that I may impart her teachings to my children. The best memorial to Dorothy is Godly young women modeled after her as she modeled herself after Jesus. Thus the older women teaching the younger women shall be practiced.
