Dean Harvey Obituary

Blacksburg - Dean Cranford "Chester" Harvey, 75, of 112 Silver Ridge Road, passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at his residence.

Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Cheryl Duffie Harvey and the son of the late Charlie Harvey and Laura Atkins Harvey. Mr. Harvey retired as a Mechanic at Hoechst Celanese and was a member of Cherokee Falls Baptist Church. He started the Handyman Ministry, which built ramps for needy families in the surrounding areas.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Harvey is survived by one son, Mark Edward Harvey of Blacksburg; one brother, Hershel Harvey of Gaffney; three sisters, Mildred Coggins, Doris Greene, and Diane Hollifield, all of Gaffney.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul Harvey, Sam Harvey, and Nickus Harvey.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 10, 2017, from 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. at Gordon Mortuary, 400 West Cherokee Street, Blacksburg, South Carolina 29702. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2 p.m. at Gordon Mortuary with Rev. Tim Knotts, Rev. Gregg Martin, and Rev. Roger Hopper officiating.

The family will be at the residence.

Chester was one of the best men we had the pleasure of knowing. He will be greatly missed in our hearts and I'm sure most of Cherokee County residents hearts. We Love you both. God gained a special Angel!
