GUSSIE MAE HUGHES
Mother Gussie Mae Hughes Hamilton, age 98, a native of Gainesville, who relocated here from Miami, Florida 15 years ago, a former cook, caterer and business owner (in Winter Haven, FL, Tallahassee, FL and Miami, FL) transitioned to her Heavenly Home during her stay at Terrace Health & Rehab Center (of Gainesville) on December 28, 2016.
Mother Hamilton attended and graduated from the 'old' Lincoln High School (of Gainesville). She was a proud Church Mother at New Gamble Memorial (of Miami, FL) and Upper Room of Greater Gainesville Church of God in Christ.
The Celebration of Gussie Mae Hughes Hamilton's Life will be held 2:00PM Friday, January 6, 2017, at Upper Room of Greater Gainesville Church of God in Christ (Gainesville, FL) with the Senior Pastors, Pastor Pearlie L. Shelton as Officiant and Superintendent Karl V. Anderson as Eulogist. The Burial will follow at Hamilton Cemetery (Lloyd, FL) on Monday. Viewing Hours for Mother Hamilton will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday 2:00-7:00PM - At the Church on Friday 30 Minutes prior to the Services - And with the Processional.
Mother Hamilton's parents, fourteen siblings, son (Bernard Hamilton) and husband of over 46 years (Malachi Hamilton) preceded her in death. She is immediately survived by her son - Michael Hamilton of Miami, FL, nieces & nephews (two of whom were her caregivers - Richard (& Gloria) Anderson) of Gainesville, FL, cousins & friends.
