ALBERT, JR.

William "Billy" Albert Rossignol, Jr., 56, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 19, 2012.

Billy is survived by his wife of 31 years, Candace Colman. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Albert Rossignol and Carolyn Elizabeth Hinman. A native of Augusta, Georgia, he graduated from Westside High School in 1974 and attended Augusta Area Technical College to study Mechanical Engineering. He worked as a Biomedical Instrumentation Specialist in Biomedical Engineering at the Medical College of Georgia. In 2000, he moved to Gainesville, Florida to work as a Field Service Engineer for Beckman Coulter Biomedical Research Division. Later he joined the University of Florida, Dept. of Zoology as an instrument maker until 2010. He enjoyed several hobbies which included fishing, woodworking and cooking. Billy was a very caring person and he always made himself available to help others.

He is survived by a sister, Elizabeth Hinman Rossignol Evans (Robby) Va. Beach, Va., two sons, Richard William Rossignol, Duque Iowa and William Kyle Rossignol, Gainesville, Florida and two grandchildren, Caleb and Emma, Hendersonville, NC.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of WILLIAMS-THOMAS DOWNTOWN, 404 North Main Street.

Dear Candy,
Sorry to hear of your tragic loss of your beloved "Billy ".I remember the first time we met the morning after spending the night on the couch on Eisenhower Dr! Many fun times,the truth was told how he always had time to HELP a friend in need! He put up parallel bars so I could walk on braces at Diane Van Giesen's. Love always,

Candy, I was so sorry to hear about Billy's passing. Even though we lost contact over the years, my memories of Billy are still fresh. We had such times together, sharing an apartment, going to boarding school, trying to rebuild a volkeswagon engine together (just to mention a few). He was funny and just a great guy to be around. Your family will be in our thoughts and prayers. I'm lucky to have had Billy as a friend.

i know how little words written on a page could mean at such a time but billy was one of the best friends you could ever have. he was always there for ya an full of laughter. though billy's travel through life was cut short he left alot of good memories we will always cherish.

Billy and I were each other's shadow from the time we met in 2nd grade throughout our adolescence and into junior high... We survived (or as Betsy pointed out to me, our parents survived) some of the craziest shenanigans one could hope to conceive, and had the absolute best time in doing so... I can imagine one of our mothers' main thoughts around mid-week while we were in grammar school was "Are they here Friday or Saturday night? Is there anything around I need to put up that can be broken?" ... We were a handful...

I will always have the fondest memories of my partner in crime... I am so thankful that he was my friend...
