J.H. “Jake” Butterworth

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2015, at Ward's Funeral Home Chapel for J.H. "Jake" Butterworth, age 71, of Gainesville. Dr. Tom Smiley will officiate. Interment will follow at Timber Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home. Mr. Butterworth passed away Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015, in his home surrounded by family following an extended illness.

Mr. Butterworth was a lifelong resident of Hall County. He was born to the late Henry Lee Butterworth and Bonnie Lue Latty Butterworth. He had worked in the vending and catering business for the past 50 years. He owned and operated Jakes Catering in Lawrenceville. He was a member of Timber Ridge Baptist Church and loved deer hunting, farming and cutting wood. He was preceded in death by his brother, William Louie Butterworth.

Survivors include wife, Joyce Elrod Butterworth, Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law, Jamie and Don Short, Gainesville; sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Bill Faulkner, Gainesville; sister-in-law, Janice Butterworth, Gainesville; sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Lewis Jones, Gainesville; sister and brother-in-law, Luann and Brian McGonigle; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
