Jason Foster Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Aug. 8 to Aug. 9, 2009.

IPSWICH — Jason A. Foster, 17, of Riverside Drive, died Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009 in a rollover auto accident on Route 1 in Revere. One of his best friends also lost her life in this tragic accident.

Jason was born in Beverly Oct. 26, 1991, son of Charles 'Chuck' Foster of Gloucester and Michelle Herrera Foster of Ipswich. Jason was attending Ipswich High School, to enter his senior year this coming fall. He was a good student, with skills in math and creative writing as well as music and art. His contributions in high school included percussion ensemble, performance of his marimba composition, stage crew work as a 'techie' with the drama club, and drummer for the Pine Island music ensemble. He worked at Ipswich Natural Foods. Jason enjoyed learning Spanish, which he used when he visited his roots in Argentina three years ago. He also enjoyed traveling in the Southwest.

Jason loved the self-development that he gained with the Art of Living youth programs. His sense of humor, lightness, hugs, peace, companionship, and passion for art and music will be greatly missed.

He will be remembered for his gentle soul, his loving and fun nature, talent and passion for abstract photography, and music composition. He surrounded himself with loving creative friends. He was uniquely self-assured in his non-conforming artist way, and self-motivated to express his creative talents. He shared his art and art commentary on his website www.plutonicfluf.deviantart.com/gallery .

In addition to his parents he is survived by his loving grandmothers Gladys Foster of Melrose, Blanca Herrera of Warwick, R.I., and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

ARRANGEMENTS: A memorial service will be held Monday, Aug. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Ascension Memorial Church, 31 County St., Ipswich. A pot-luck reception with group music will follow in the Boon hall. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the Art of Living Foundation (memo field: Youth Programs), c/o Michelle Foster, P.O. Box 304, Ipswich, MA 01938. Arrangements under the direction of the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich. To leave a condolence please visit www.whittier-porter.com.

I have never met your son or your family. My deepest condolences for your loss.

Your son's picture reminded me what I looked like when I was a young man and a native Rhode Islander.

Again, my deepest sympathies.

Dear Michelle, Chuck, and Family-

I had the privilege to teach Jason in a digital photography workshop at a small art gallery in Ipswich. He had an incredible creative eye and an infectious enthusiasm. It’s a tragedy the world will never know what such a remarkable young man could have accomplished. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

What a gentle pure soul Jason is.
Perhaps his love and service was needed elsewhere. He touched so many of us and absolutely contributed to making the earth a better richer place.
I loved his warmth and kind eyes. I loved hearing about his wonderful creative gifts. He was multi-faceted.

All my love to Michelle and Chuck,

To Michelle, Chuck and all of Jason's family:

I was beyond shocked to hear of Jason's passing yesterday morning. Jason has been such a wonderful friend primarily my daughter, Rachel, and he impressed me with his magnificent attitude that seemed to be well beyond his years. I have no doubt that you all have greatly loved each other, and I know he will be with you all to help you moving forward.

Sending you all so many loving thoughts and prayers.
