Edna Wilcox Obituary

SAN ANGELO Lucy Wilcox, age 88, died Thursday, May 22, 2014, in a local care center due to complications from Alzheimer's disease. Her husband, Joe Wilcox, age 94, died Saturday, May 24, 2014, in a local care center. Family visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, May 26, at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at First Christian Church, 29 North Oakes, with the Reverend Ben Hubert officiating. A private family burial will be held under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home. Lucy was born Dec. 5, 1925, on the family farm in Bartlett, Texas to Edna Elizabeth and Henry Clarence Berry. She attended Baylor University and married Morris Aaron Isabel Sr. on his birthday, Jan. 21, 1947. He died in January of 1973, and she married Joe Wilcox in August, 1975. She retired from the Postal Service in Midland, Texas after 20 years of service and she and Joe returned to San Angelo in 1994. They loved to travel, visit family members, and go dancing. Lucy was a lifelong Baptist and a devoted Christian. Lucy never met a stranger and had your life's story out of you before you knew it. She was a happy and loving mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed. Her beautiful, sparkling blue eyes would light up a room. Lucy's unintentional humor was the stuff of family legend. She is survived by her sister, Alma Isabel of Austin; sons Morris Aaron Isabel Jr. and wife Gay Marie of San Antonio; and Davy Clint Isabel and wife Cindy of Blue Springs, Missouri; daughters Betty Ford and husband Mike of San Angelo; and Deborah Huntsucker and husband Ray also of San Angelo. Grandchildren include Stephen Huntsucker and wife M.J. Robles of Devine, Texas; Brandy Mayes and husband Brian of Brookville, Ohio; Ramsey Isabel of Austin; Jacob Isabel of San Antonio; Elizabeth Ford of San Angelo; Lyndsey and husband Colt Stout of New Lebanon, Ohio; and Cody and Josh Isabel of Blue Springs, Missouri. She was preceded in death by brother, Noah Ramsey and brother-in-law, Charles Isabel. Missing her hugs and kisses are great grandchildren Isaiah Mayes, Madelynn Stout, Zoe Mayes, David Aaron Robles-Huntsucker, Memphis Belle Ford, and soon to arrive Nehemiah Stout in June of 2014. Also surviving is nephew Charles Milton Isabel Jr., wife Diana and three daughters of Austin and first cousin Ellis Logan Ware of Bartlett, Texas. The family would like to thank the staff of Park Plaza Nursing Home for their compassion and devoted care of Lucy. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Alzheimer's Association or a charity of your choice.

Betty ---
I'm very sorry to hear about your folks. One of the toughest things about gettin' older is havin' to watch the ones that gave us life drift away. We need to thank the Good Lord for such solid, respectable loved ones & cherish the many memories of times gone by. PEACE be with you & your family.
