Dorothy Hambright Obituary

Dorothy Pearson Hambright

San Angelo, TX

Dorothy Pearson Hambright, age 83, of San Angelo, was called to a better place on January 7, 2019, after a brief illness. She was born in Novice, TX on November 13, 1935. Her parents were Cleo and Carl Pearson. Dorothy is survived by Robert Doss Hambright, her husband of 65 years.

Throughout their marriage, Dorothy and Bob supported each other in every way. They worked together to create a loving home, which they shared with family and many loving friends.

Other survivors include son Robert Kyle Hambright and wife Sandy, son Randall Kevin Hambright and wife Tamara, all of Arlington, TX. Her nephew Jim Bob Hambright and wife Glenda of Fredricksburg, TX. Dorothy's beloved grandchildren were the light of her life, and include Landon Hambright of Kansas City, Missouri, Chase Hambright and wife Mollie of Ft. Worth, TX, Jared Hambright of Ft. Worth and Taylor Hambright of Plano, TX. Also Dear to Dorothy's heart - her precious dog Boots.

Dorothy was the eldest of four sisters, and early in life was blessed with an unusual sense of love and responsibility. Her sons and their families knew that Dorothy's love and devotion were endless. But also that her life was filled with love for many outside the family circle.

Dorothy's friends knew they always could rely on Dorothy when the Ox was in the ditch...and that she would never quit.

She also helped many she didn't know. She delivered meals on wheels and participated in many charitable projects. She was totally devoted to her Sunday school class at First Methodist Church. Dorothy was a long-time member of Beta Sigma Phi, Epsilon Alpha Master Chapter. Her Friendships there were strong, going back 60 years.

Dorothy worked in the medical profession, first at Shannon Hospital and then at the Regional Cancer Center. Dorothy loved her work and was dedicated to it. After her retirement, several members of that staff became Dorothy's adopted daughters. She loved them dearly. They met at Dorothy's house on a regular basis, and she loved nothing more than preparing for those occasions.

Dorothy had many interests: medicine, politics, religion, psychology- and fun. She traveled frequently, both at home and abroad. Her devotion to family and friends never changed. Nor did her determination to held anyone in need - any place, anytime, anywhere.

Services will be at 10 A.M., Saturday, January 12, 2019, at First United Methodist Church in San Angelo, Texas.
