Duane Schrader Obituary

Duane E. "Dewey" Schrader

Allouez - Duane E. "Dewey" Schrader, 86, passed away due to natural causes on Saturday, May 4, 2019 surrounded by his family. Dewey was born on June 5, 1932 in Delmar, IA to the late Howard and Juanita (Burke) Schrader.

After high school, he enlisted in the Navy. Following his Naval service, he met the love of his life, Joyce (Luczynski). They were married for 61 years.

Dewey had a long career in banking and spent the majority of it at Associated Bank, retiring in 1997 as a Sr. Vice President in Business Banking. He was highly regarded in the banking industry and his co-workers and customers became lifelong friends.

Dewey had a great civic spirit and was an early and influential advocate of student housing at UW-Green Bay. He was so honored when the "Dewey Schrader Living Learning Center" was dedicated in his name at the Richard J. Liebl Hall in September 2003. His community activities also included leadership positions with the Optimist Club of Green Bay, SCORE, Options for Independent Living and Prevent Blindness of NE Wisconsin.

Family and faith were very important to Dewey. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and sharing his life stories - and there were some good ones!!! He enjoyed golfing and the company of his golf group on Fridays for lunch at Wertel's Tap.

Dewey will be missed by his wife Joyce. Children, Cole Schrader, Jeff (Kitty) Schrader, Gail (Charles) Prange and Tracy Gomoluch. Grandchildren, Joey Schrader, Sara Schrader (fiancé Shaun Stevens), Henry Prange, Harry Prange, Madeline Prange (Jake Kneusel), Alexandra (Andy) Zakowski, Gabriel Gomoluch and Gwen Gomoluch. Great Grandchildren, Graham and Birdie Kneusel. Brother Lee (Marietta) Schrader, Sister-in-law Pat Luczynski, Brother-in-law Norm Michaels and Sister-in-law Cathie (Mike) Stout. In addition, many nieces, nephews, friends and the wonderful Kenney Street neighbors where he and Joyce raised their family and lived for 52 years.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and sisters-in laws, Bill & Molly Schrader and Don & Regolette Schrader.

Family and friends may visit at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere on Friday, May 10, 2019 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM with a parish prayer service at 7:00PM. Visitation will continue on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Hilltop Drive, Allouez from 9:30AM to 10:45AM. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated for Dewey at 11:00AM.
