Betty Hunt Obituary

Betty Lou Watson Hunt

Greenville - Betty Lou Watson Hunt, 86, widow of Warren Martin Hunt, of Greenville, died peacefully in her sleep at the home of her family on Friday, March 23, 2018.

Born November 29, 1931, she was the daughter of the late James Lloyd and Gladys Eliza Watson.

Betty was a resident of Haywood Estates Retirement Center for the past 14 years. Prior to moving to Haywood Estates, she was a resident of Travelers Rest, where her green thumb was evident in her vegetable garden and beautiful flowers. Betty was always the first to respond with a meal in times of need. She was a fixture in the Greenville County Tax Collectors office for 20 years. Betty was a member of Roper Mountain Baptist Church for the past 14 years, and Reedy River Baptist Church prior to that. She was an ambassador for Haywood Estates.

Betty is survived by two daughters, Jacque Hunt Spencer (Tom) of Greer, and Jan Hunt Hollar (Kurt) of Myrtle Beach; and five grandchildren, James Martin Hollar, Thomas Hunt Spencer, Jaclyn Elizabeth Spencer, Ella Hollar McCurry (Logan), and Thomas Warren Spencer.

In addition to her parents and loving husband of 54 years, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles James Watson, and her twin brother, Bobby Lee Watson.

Betty requested a private burial and the family will respect her wishes. The Reverend Ron Lewis will preside at the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Reedy River Cemetery Fund, 871 N. Highway 25 Bypass, Greenville, SC, 29617 or North Greenville Crisis Ministry, 864 N. Highway 25 Bypass, Greenville, SC 29617.

The families are at their respective homes. Jacque Spencer, 9 Pristine Drive, Greer, SC 29651 and Jan Hollar, 1947 Roe Ford Road, Greenville, SC 29617 (PO Box 1548, Travelers Rest, SC 29690).
