John Wald Obituary

John D. Wald, 86, husband of the late Jennie Lucille Morris Wald, of 125 Quiet Way, West Union, died Saturday, May 25, 2002, at Anderson Area Medical Center.

A native of Oconee County, Mr. Wald was the son of the late Diedrick D. and Susan Addis Wald. He was a retired social worker with the Oconee County Department of Social Services with over 30 years of service. Mr. Wald was a member of the Blue Ridge Masonic Lodge No. 92, the Blue Ridge Riding Club, the Oconee Forestry Association and the S.C. Cattlemen's Association. He attended St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church.

He is survived by daughters, Alice M. Wald of Columbia, Burma Wald Davis and husband, Steve, of Charlotte, N.C., Laura W. Mathis and husband, Bill, of Seneca; brothers, Eugene Wald of Acworth, Ga., Lloyd Wald of Seneca, Milford Wald of Walhalla, Verner Wald of West Union; sister, Mary Ellen Meigs of Martinez, Ga.; seven grandchildren, Christen Mathis, Heather Mathis, Cheryl Davis, Manny Davis, Evelyn Davis, Ember Davis, and Avery Davis.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Wald was predeceased by a sister, Irene Cain; and brothers, Clyde Wald and Ralph Wald.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2002, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, with burial to follow in Oconee Memorial Park with Masonic Rites.

The body is at Davenport Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight, May 27, 2002.

The family is at the residence of Bill and Laura Mathis, 544 Keowee School Road, Seneca, S.C.

Memorials may be made to the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 301 W. Main St., Walhalla, SC 29691.
