I was thinking of you again this week and then I realized that it had been eight long years without your big personality. Much loved and missed, now and always.

i met kent when i moved back to charleston in 2010. in that brief period of time i felt as if i had a life long friendship. we spoke of many things and shared an understanding many fundamental concepts and beliefs that is life. we spoke of faith family community friendship. like his name he truly is a champion. my first impression when we met are not just my personal feelings but the definition of who he was; kind, thoughtful, considerate, trusting, open, generous. a great guy. a good person. a true southern gentleman.

god bless champ. you lived your life touching people through your positive attitude and good nature, always making everyone feel welcome and comfortable. you gave this world the best of you and i appreciate you for that. i was blessed to have met you and find a friend in you. your passing is not without relevance or meaning. as you have touched my life with your spirit of joy and love for life, may you now find that which you know is there, the happiness that where looking for, the joy that you always shared.

Carey,
Please accept my condolences for the loss of Kent. He was one of the most pleasant, enjoyable people I ever knew, and I can't think of any time I was around him that there weren't lots of laughs and fun. He was full of life and I greatly enjoyed all the times I was in his company and will remember him with a smile.

Kent made "going to the dentist" fun. I was his patient for eight years when I lived in Charleston. He was so much fun and he gave me advice on many topics. I would never cancel an appointment to go to this dentist! I will always remember his laugh and sitting in his chair seeing his dog in the backyard.
Wow, will he be missed.

Carey and Pud, June 2017
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of our Kent... He was an amazing man and lived a Full and Awesome Life... He was not only.. the kind of man people wanted to be, he was the kind of man people would be proud to be... Gentle, and with great courage, trust, and grace.
...Life.....so fragile, Loss....so sudden, Heart....so broken,...in the wake of such a loss, we are haunted by things we don't, and may never understand. Yet the solace we seek may not come from answers.
So we look for comfort in the belief of love's everlasting connection. May that love lift you and hold you close, and give you peace.
The angels are always near to those who are grieving, to whisper to them that their loved ones are safe in the hand of God...

Rest In Peace Kent ....my darling friend.....

With all of my love,

Judian Johnson ~ Sag Harbor New York

I am heartbroken to hear of your untimely death. I cherish my memories of all the crazy fun times with you at Carolina and Charleston. Sunbathing, boat trips, road trips, parties, oyster roasts, your beautiful piano playing, Even though I haven't seen you much in the last 20 years, I will miss you. The world has lost a loving, funny, honest man. God bless you, your brother, Carey and all your dear friends, which are many I am sure.

I was barely adjusting to the news that Dr. Scott had sold his practice and decided to retire when I learned of his untimely passing. For all the times he made me laugh, I'm proud that my Jeremih ringtone made him guffaw over and over. I will miss his wit and sparkle. As Dylan Thomas wrote, "Love is the last light spoken." I wish strength and love to Dr. Scott's loved ones. I mourn your profound loss.

Throughout our years in dental school and our years in practice it was a priviledge to call you a friend. You had the ability to make someone feel better just by talking to them. The conversations about patients, dentistry, and the management of a practice I will miss. Physically you may not be here, but I will always have the memories. Rest in peace, my friend. Kent, I met you 40 years ago, right out of dental school. In all that time you continued to make life a little better, lighter and fun for everyone around you. You will live on in all our hearts and continue to make us smile with all the loving and "crazy-fun" memories we have of you...a truly remarkable man and friend.
