Talmadge Sherbert Obituary

Talmadge E. Sherbert, 81, of 359 Horseshoe Circle, died Wednesday, July 9, 2003, at Providence Hospital in Columbia.

He was born in Holly Springs and was the son of the late George and Eunice Smith Sherbert.

Mr. Sherbert was retired from the J.P. Stevens Co., Whitmire Plant, was a member of Pine Ridge Baptist Church and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific campaign.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Sloan Sherbert, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Ed and Bonnie Sherbert, of Simpsonville; granddaughters, Capt. Ray and Windy Hammond, of USAF, Charleston, and John and Candy Deck, of Greer; a daughter and son-in-law, Jim and Myrtle Register, of Pickens; grandchildren, Julie Boozer, of Greer, James Simpson, of Travelers Rest, and Jerry Simpson, of Gray Court; three great-grandchildren; a son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Judi Sherbert, of Gray Court; a grandson, Jake Sherbert, of Gray Court; and two sisters, Alma Lankford, of Greer, and Dot Haney, of Spartanburg.

He was predeceased by a brother, Marshall Sherbert.

Funeral services will be conducted today at 11 a.m. at Pine Ridge Baptist Church, with interment at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Greer. -- Gray Funeral Home of Whitmire is in charge.
