The Lord called Barbara Bayne home on Friday, February 7, 2014.
Born in Concord, NC, she was a daughter of the late James G. and Hattie Lee McCall Watts.
Barbara was a school administrator and teacher in Greenville County School District for many years. "Bop," as she was affectionately known to her grandchildren, championed education in their own lives. She found humor and a silver lining in everyday life. She leaves a rich educational legacy, and her untimely death leaves many friends and family members wondering who will now make them laugh. She loved wearing orange and cheering for the Clemson Tigers. The beach, nature and animals always had a special place in her heart. She enjoyed participating in the Red Hat Society and sharing good times with friends. This is a bittersweet time for her family and friends, who will cherish the privilege of knowing this gentle soul and talented spirit.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Charles Robert "Bob" Bayne, of the home; loving children, Kelly Curry and husband, Andy, and Kevin Bayne and wife, Yola, all of Greenville; sisters, Jean Chandler and husband, Joe of Charleston, and Katherine Bayne and husband, Woody of Greenville; beloved grandchildren, Bayne and LeAnn Curry; a special nephew, Michael Self and wife, Sharon; and several nephews, nieces and their families.
Funeral services will be 3:00 pm Tuesday, February 11, at The Mackey Mortuary with Reverend James Patterson officiating. Burial will follow at Springwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday afternoon from 1:30 pm until 2:45 pm at the mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Greenville Humane Society, 305 Airport Road, Greenville, SC 29607.

Bob, Kelly and Kevin.....I loved your Mother very much and shall always cherish our young memories with Bob and Barbara. Kevin, I will always remember you, teaching you colors on a trip to Cherokee. I can name my favorite teachers on hand... Barbara Bayne is one of those! She truly was one who had a heart for her students, offering that heart through her encouraging words to her "students" even decades after those students left her classroom. I am blessed to be one of those "students". And I know that she will always have an eye on me from Above {as Below, ;)}. She is no longer on this earth, but she is not really gone either. Her spirit will always be felt by those that loved her during her time here. My condolences & prayers go out to/for her family & friends that feel her loss even more profoundly than do I. We have met Barbara through Greenville Charter High School and have been so privileged to have had this chance. She was always putting a smile on one's face, she did it with Grace and her comments were always coming from hear heart without any doubt. We hope that her many great souvenirs will help the Bayne family to ease their pain. She was a strong lady and wanted her many friend to remember how she was while being herself.

So sad that we did not see Barbara again once she left Landis, NC. We were so close to the back then. We went to the same high school and enjoyed a great deal of time talking and laughing.
