Anne Glisson Obituary
Manhattan, NY - Anne Patrick Glisson, age 83, passed away Friday, August 31, 2018 in the Mary Manning Walsh Home, Manhattan, NYC. From her birth on September 16, 1935 in Greenville, South Carolina to her passing she nourished those around her with love, compassion, and grace.
She is the daughter of deceased Charles Hugh Patrick and Mildred Wysong Patrick. Anne graduated from Greenville High School, majored in art at Converse College and graduated from Parsons School of Design in NYC. She served as Queen for the International Wool Textile Organisation traveling worldwide to promote wool. Anne also lived in Jacksonville, FL and Atlanta, GA before moving to New York.
On June 17, 1989, she married James Thomas Glisson of Evinston, FL. They met while working together at Rambusch Decorating Company founded in 1898 in NYC for design and lighting of theater scenes. They later founded Wysong Company, specializing in church liturgical design projects. Both Anne and Tom are talented researchers and artists. Their church renovations include the Stations of the Cross and the Alter at Mary Manning Walsh Home where Anne has been a resident since Parkinson's necessitated her move. Tom visited Anne at MMW every day after directing art production across town. Theirs was a devoted Christian love. Not only did God bless Anne with beauty and creativity but with full acceptance, love, joy and humor for all who she met.
Anne is survived by her loving husband, James Thomas Glisson; brothers Charles Hugh Patrick, Jr. (Sue) of Pawleys Island, SC and Philip Stone Patrick (Gaile) of Greenville, SC. Also surviving are her four children, Katherine Stone Williamson of Franklin, NC, James Preston Williamson III (Elaine) of Atlanta, GA, Adrian Lane Williamson of Atlanta, GA, and Blake Alexander Williamson of Atlanta, GA; and her two step sons James Thomas Glisson III of Los Angeles, CA and Nathaniel Lyon Glisson of NYC.
The Catholic Requiem Mass will be held at the Mary Manning Walsh Chapel in NYC at 9:30 A.M. on Monday, September 17th. Anne's final resting place will be in Evinston, FL where she and Tom planned to retire. Interment date to be announced later.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to all the staff at Mary Manning Walsh. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Anne's name to Mary Manning Walsh Home, 1339 York Ave., NY, NY 10021.
