Warren Bree Obituary

WARREN H. BREE

74, of West Palm Beach, Florida, beloved husband of Violet Bree, and the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of an asset management firm in Stamford, Connecticut, died of complications from pancreatic cancer on August 16, 2005.

Mr. Bree was the Chief Investment Officer and a Senior Portfolio Manager of WHB/Wolverine Asset Management, Inc., a registered investment advisory firm that he founded in New York City in 1990. Bree pioneered a style of portfolio management that advocated the use of convertible securities as a separate asset class, and offered his clients a unique alternative to traditional equity investing.

Born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, Mr. Bree graduated from Uniontown Senior High School, and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree from the Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania. Bree also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After launching his Wall Street career with Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner and Smith, Mr. Bree enjoyed a long and distinguished career in the securities industry, working at such firms as A.M. Kidder and Lehman Brothers, and achieving partnership status with Shearson Hammill, DuPont Glore Forgan, Cowen and Co., L.F. Rothschild, and Oppenheimer and Co.

An avid golfer, Mr. Bree was a founding member of Montammy Golf Club in Alpine, New Jersey, serving as the club's first Greens Committee Chairman. Most recently, he was an active member of Mayacoo Lakes Country Club in West Palm Beach.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sisters, Corinne Levinsohn of Tenafly, New Jersey, and Barbara Bree Shaab of Chesterbrook, Pennsylvania; a brother Arthur Bree of San Francisco, California; two daughters, Nancy Bree Babyak of Weston, Connecticut, and Jill Bree of New Haven, Connecticut; a son Adam Bree of New York City; a step-son Roger Corneretto of Alexandria, Virginia; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Lieutenant Arnold Max Bree, a war hero of the Second World War.

Services will be held on August 18, 2005 at 2:00 PM at The Abraham L. Green and Son Funeral Home, 88 Beach Road, in Fairfield, Connecticut. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, Inc. (PanCan), 2141 Rosecrans Avenue, Suite 7000, El Segundo, California 90245.
