Ronald Bartizek Obituary

Ronald A. Bartizek, of Dallas, Pennsylvania, died September 6, 2019 at home of complications from multiple Myeloma, a blood cancer which he had been fighting since 2010. Ron was born August 16, 1947 in Willmantic, Conn. the son of Albert and Phyllis (Hoxie) Bartizek. At that time the family lived in Lebanon, where both the Hoxie and Bartizek families had been engaged in farming. He was a 1965 graduate of Windham High School and attended the University of Connecticut, Storrs and then Northwood Institute, Midland, Mich. Through a 38 year career in newspapers, Ron held positions in advertising sales and administration and general management. In 1980 he became the assistant pulisher of the Lakeville Journal and Millerton, New York News. He served as vice-president of the Connecticut Editorial Association. Moving to Pennsylvania in 1983 he became advertising director of The Times Leader in Wilkes-Barre. From 1988 to 2000, he and his wife Charlotte Senk Bartizek purchased and operated The Dallas Post and The Abington Journal, two weekly newspapers in northeastern Pennsylvania. In retirement he was the business and assistant city editor of the Wilkes-Barre Times Leader after selling his newspapers to them. In addition to his wife of 40 years, Charlotte Senk Bartizek, Ron is survived by their children, Kathryn Bartizek of Harrisburg and Carl Bartizek of San Diego, CA and his son Mark Bartizek of Omaha , Ne. Also his brother Brian Bartizek and sister-in-law Cora Bartizek of Windham, CT; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his first wife Olga Bartizek of Willmantic, A funeral service will be held in Pennsylvania. His remains will be interred in the New Lebanon Cemetery, Lebanon. CT.

My deepest sympathies to the Bartizek family. I'm so glad that I had the pleasure of meeting Ron and he gave me a chance to work for him as a stringer photographer for a few jobs with the Dallas Post in the late 90's.

Charolle & Family....so sorry to read of Ron's passing. I remember him well Still trying to accept the loss of Bill..2 years..it is a very difficult time. I am still here in Annapolis, Md. with my son..I will remain here...like it very much and it is good to be by family. I was saddened to learn of Ron's passing. As a young journalist, I worked for Ron in the late 80's. With his guidance, I won two Keystone Press Awards. He was a gentleman and wise beyond his years. The world will miss Ron. Rest easy while chasing deadlines above.
