Owen McNally was one of the most thoughtful and kind in depth writing reporter I ever knew while I too was at The Hartford Courant for just less than 40 years. I just learned of his passing and am so very sad to have not been at his funeral to honor him as best I could! I love seeing his photo here! Sincerely, Thomas Dennis Williams

I was shocked and deeply saddened when Sheila broke the news to me.
Owen was my life long friend from the 4th grade through to the present.
Owen had a most unique and mastery of the language and twisted it in ways to make me laugh.
We loved baseball played stick ball at his parents home in W Hartford all the way through college. He a Ted Williams and Red Sox fan while I was a Stan Musial and Cardinal fan. When we were not playing baseball outdoors because of rain, we were playing a game we made up called "dice baseball" where we kept all the stats. He was the Red Sox I was the Cardinals. Other friends.teams also played "in the league".
The void in my life due to Owen's passing cannot and will not ever be filled. Owen was a friend for the ages.
My solace is that I have thousands of great memories of Owen that will make me smile.
My thoughts prayers and deepest sympathy are extended to Owen's wonderful wife, Sheila, sister Susan and their son and daughter along with God's blessings.

As a reader of Mr. McNally's music reviews I was privileged to enjoy his analysis and appreciation- of any and all genre- for many, many hours of entertainment for me over the years in The Courant and other places. A great loss to the Connecticut music community, but if there's a Rock'n'Roll Heaven (or jazz, or classical, or...), I'm sure he'll be blowin' the blues from a fine turntable in a quiet corner just inside The Gates.

So very sad to hear of Owen's passing - We were classmates from elementary school - through high school - and even through the years of several class reunions. God's Blessings to the Family.
