I knew Mary-Jane during our Carleton College days. I was teaching French; she was married to Dean Peter Stanley. She was always gracious, generous and modest, with a perky sense of humor and ready smile. Someone who drew people to her in a quiet and profoundly kind way.

Peter and Laura, We are so very sorry to hear of Mary-Jane's passing. I have many fond memories of our years together at PC and want to extend our sincere sympathy to both of you. May you find peace in your memories of a great lady.

Mary-Jane and I enjoyed parallel lives without enough contact. I am sorry we didn't connect more along the way.Our mothers (Catherine Kinney and Jane Cox) were fond 1st cousins. Born within 4 days of each other, I believe we both attended the College of New Rochelle. I think I recall we both won Dream Houses as newlyweds. We both followed our husbands to California and returned to Connecticut's shoreline. ( I got my MBA from Claremont University coincidentally). I lived at Knollwood Beach in Old Saybrook for a year before settling in Stonington.
Since retiring from the New London based Community Foundation, I volunteer with Hospice and often visit residents at Fairview. If course, I had no idea Mary-Jane lived there!
I have a daughter, Lauren, living nearby, and a other in Vermont. I keep in close touch with all the Branford Kinneys. Would love to know when a service for Mary-Jane is scheduled.

What a beautiful obituary celebrating a wonderful blessed life. Mary Jane and I attended the Mount together and since I was Jane Cosgrove we had fun when called on in class telling Sr Basil our Latin teacher that the person she wanted was in the other class. (We never did research if we were related). I am so sorry for your loss.
