Dorothy Smith Obituary



Dorothy Louise Smith, born April 12 1917, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 26, 2015. She was born in Detroit, MI and was the daughter of the late Henry and Louise Dettmer. Dorothy married Robert W. Smith in 1937. They moved to CT in 1948 where they raised their three daughter: Sandra, Sharon and Roberta. Dorothy enjoyed golf well into her 80's and she and her husband Bob, were members of Farmington Country Club and Breakers West Palm Beach. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Robert and daughter Roberta, sister Ida Morris and her brother Ken Dettmer. She is survived by her two daughters Sandra and Robert Luzzi and Sharon and Louis DiMinico; Grandchildren Laura and James Reynolds, Kim and John Porco, Lauren and Michael Derse and Michael DiMinico; great-grandchildren Hunter, Connor and Mackenzie Reynolds and John and Robert Derse. The family would like to thank Lorna Picorelli-Smith her nurse for her loving care of Dorothy for the last six years. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations are to be made to your local Hospice.
