A deep and personal sorrow filled out hearts when we learned of Jim’s passing.

We had the privilege to know Jim for many years. Jim knew, as so many of us do not, that the secret to life isn't to get it all done but to enjoy each step along the way. He embodied this philosophy with his work, his community activities, his friends and most of all with his family. He was a man of high standards, complete integrity and enthusiasm for whatever task he took in hand.

Through the journey of life, it is the people that we encounter, the relationships that we build and the lives that we touch that matter the most. Jim’s camaraderie, sense of humor and kindness made the entire journey a memorable experience. Some of our favorite memories of Jim on this journey are from working with him at LTTN, times spent (and dinners we enjoyed) at each other’s homes, socializing at the Officer’s Club and a memorable trip to New York City to celebrate a birthday. We were honored that he chose to visit us (with his sister-in-law Anita) in Hilton Head last year where we drank wine and feasted upon treasured memories.

Jim always made us feel special and then we realized it wasn't that we were special it was that he was special and treated everyone that way. Our world would be a better place if we had more people like Jim Throwe.

Requiescats in peace dear friend.

I will always be indebted to Jim's help during my enlistment with CONNARNG back in 1968. His wise and helpful counsel helped me navigate a 6 year tour with the NG. I enjoyed his humor as we shared funny "war stories" about General Freund. Our sympathy and prayers go out to his family.

Dear Meredith, James, John & family,

It was my pleasure to work for Mr. James H. Throwe for many years at Leone, Throwe, Teller & Nagle. It was a sad day when he retired in 1999. He treated everyone at the office more like family than his employees. He always had an open door, a guiding hand, a great yarn, a funny joke or a wonderful Irish song to fill the halls, whichever you needed.
I will always fondly remember the green flowers on St. Patrick's Day, the luncheons on Administrative Professional's Day, the Christmas Party & New Year's toasts and of course the recliner in the corner of that front office. He was and is a great man who will be greatly missed.
With Sincere Condolences,

Elliott Donn

To The Throwe Family,

It is with great sadness that I learned of Jim's passing this morning. He was a kind and gentle man, a courageous soldier and a patriot. You all have my deepest condolences

I'll miss seeing him at the "O" Club and at the many military events where we had a chance to sit together and share so many pleasant conversations.

May you all share many happy memories of your lives with this "mensch", and may he rest in peace.

I knew Jim through our shared Lawyer Profession. He was always a thoughtful and creative Gentleman of the Law. We had a number of cases together and were able to come to mutually-satisfactory resolutions which served our clients very well in reducing the stress involved in the dissolution of marital relationships.
