To the Keener family,
My thoughts and prayers. Pat was so kind, humble and fun to be around. I shared her environmental concerns and we discussed them on occasion. When I was feeling down,I always felt better after talking with her. I can't stop thinking about her. May she ALWAYS rest in peace.

To Pat's family: As a member of the Simsbury Investment Club, Pat contributed her knowledge, enviromental concerns and adventuresome attitude. I thoroughly enjoyed the time I spent with her as did all the other members.

I feel lucky to have known Pat in recent years and shared her passion for UCONN basketball. We had much fun together. The preservation of the river will be her ongoing legacy to this town. I will celebrate her life and will miss my dear friend.

Know family must be so proud of Pat Keener's philosophy that the earth is only loaned to us lowly, human animals, to continue to think of generations, forward, ie., a Rachel Carson student.... Gail Eckberg

Your mother used to come in to where I worked in New Hartford. She always had a smile on her face and was happy to talk to anyone. She would tell me about her many travels. I was so sorry to her of her passing. She was an amazing human being.

Communities, true communities, have their foundations in people of action, not people who "sit on their back porches eating bon bons" (as Pat used to say). Pat, through her love of her river, her town, her many friends, and of course, her family, made the Farmington Valley a better place to live with her dedicated actions based in goodness. I feel very lucky to have known Pat and called her a terrific friend!

To Pat's family, extended family, and her many many friends and fellow activists; I am truly sorry for your loss. I have stayed at Pat's house on the banks of her beloved river - it's a lovely river, made all the more vibrant by Pat's connection to it. Pat joined myself and my family for a short trip to NYC a few years ago. She was so keen to experience everything and didn't want to miss anything. This is pretty hard to do in New York - we were very busy there. I'll always remember that trip and Pat's vibrancy and keen passion for the world around her.

I was a caregiver to Pat in her last days. Although I was only with her twice, she really touched me, and I feel a great sense of loss at her passing. Avid birder and environmentalist that I am, I found a kindred spirit in her. How very blessed are all the people whose lives she touched! To the family and friends I extend my most sincere sympathies for your loss. Fondly, Barbara Jaroch

Pat has been a role model for me. Even though I now live in RI, I will think of her every day as I strive to preserve environmentally fragile open space here. My memories of Pat will lead me from the sadness I now feel to the joys I remember from being lucky enough to have her as a friend. My condolences go out to her family and other friends. Love, Kathie

It is an honor to be a part of your extended family, Pat. I'm so grateful Sydney went exploring in your house and woke you up! Trust me, you are more than a droplet in the river! You will be with all of us forever. Love, Shawn and Sydney
