CONGER, Glenn "Sonny" Gordon, Jr.
Glenn "Sonny" Gordon Conger, Jr., 71, of Vernon, beloved husband of 26 years to Patricia (Smith) Conger, passed away peacefully on Friday, (June 14, 2013) at Kimberly Hall in Windsor. Glenn was born Oct. 16, 1941, in Potsdam, NY, the son of the late Glenn and Florence (Grant) Conger. He proudly served in the United States Navy for 21 years, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. When he was physically able, he enjoyed his yard and gardens, doing his needlework, traveling, and spending time with his daughters and granddaughters. He was a member of Washington Lodge #70, A.F. & A.M., Temple Chapter #53, Order of the Eastern Star, the Vernon Grange, and the Hathaway-Miller Post #62, American Legion in Ellington. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Melinda S. Conger of Waddington, NY, her companion Michael Martin, and Amy L. Conger of Vernon; two granddaughters, Emma and Sadie Conger; his sister, Candy Trombley of Chase Mills, NY and her companion Ken; two aunts, Barbara Patraw and her husband Gene of West Stockholm, NY, and Beverly Grant of Groton, CT, and several nieces and nephews. Glenn was also predeceased by his first wife, Susan (Crandall) Conger; his sister, Patricia Slaughter; and his brother, Guy Conger.
His family will receive friends for calling hours on Monday, June 17, 2013 from 4-8 p.m. at the Ladd Funeral Home, 19 Ellington Avenue, Rockville. An Eastern Star Service will be conducted on Monday at 6:30 p.m. and a Masonic Service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Services will be celebrated at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Grove Hill Cemetery, Rockville, with military honors.
