THE MEMORIAL SERVICE ORIGINALLY SCHEDULED FOR THE MONDAY, FEBRUARY 2, 2026 HAVE BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 5, 2026 DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER.

Steven Kenneth Conger, 86, husband of the late Mary Sue Cumbus Conger, died Tuesday, January 20, 2026.

Born in Trinidad, CO, he was the youngest son of the late Owen and Marguerite Gumeson Conger.

Steven was a graduate of Furman University and a veteran of the U.S. Navy Submarine Service. He and Mary Sue were longtime owners of Stuffe and Suche Hallmark Cards and Gifts, in the Greenville area.

He is survived by daughter, Meg Ason (Jeff); son, Mark Conger; sister-in-law, Virginia Conger; brother-in-law, George Cumbus; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Kaye Bee Houts; brother, David Bruce Conger; nephew, John Houts; brothers-in-law, John "Johnny" Houts and John Cumbus; and sister-in-law, Brenda Cumbus.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. A private inurnment will follow the service.

Memorials may be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children at https://www.shrinerschildrens.org/en/locations/greenville.
