John T. "Jack" Kirkness

1947 - 2021

John "Jack" T. Kirkness, Jr., 73, of Farmington, CT passed away peacefully January 4, 2021. Jack was born in Jamaica Plain, MA on May 14, 1947; graduated from Fitch High School in Groton, CT. He continued his education in Boston, MA. He was an avid art student and worked at an art store while attending school. Jack proudly served his country in the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army from 1969 through 1971 and earned an award for Marksmanship with a rifle. He is survived by his sister Ginger Gorey and her husband Rob of Venice, FL; his brother Peter Kirkness and wife Kathleen of Farmington, CT; and sister Nancy Burke and husband Dave of Bristol, CT; nephews Rob and Ryan Gorey; nieces Shannon and Heather Kirkness; nephew Matthew Burke. Jack will be remembered by everyone who knew him as a kind soul who always thought of other people, had a wonderful sense of humor, liked to go on walks and play board games, bowl, and whom no one could beat at movie trivia. In lieu of sending flowers the family has asked any donations to be made to a charity of your choosing in Jack's name.
