Dorothy Burton Obituary

Dorothy "Dot" P. Burton, 88, of Bristol, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with lung cancer on Monday, February 1, 2021 at Bristol Hospital. She was born on November 28, 1932 in Bristol, daughter of the late William and Louise (Turner) Peterson. Dot grew up in Bristol, CT, where she attended Bristol Public Schools. She loved fun and laughter and especially loved spending time with her family and friends at picnics, dinners and parties. She had fond memories of swimming and boating during summers, at the family cottage, on Columbia Lake. Later in life, Dot married Henry Burton, with whom she shared 18 loving years of marriage. She looked forward to yearly trips to Hawaii with Hank and summer trips to New England beaches. Dot was a devoted mother to her three sons, Ted, Scott and Eric. Spending time with her grandchildren was what Dot cherished the most. She was very proud of all their accomplishments. Dot looked forward to going to church fairs and tag sales with her nieces and friends to find fresh baked goods and "treasures." She worked as a hostess at The Market, where she made many lifelong friends. Dot attended water exercise classes, well into her 80s, with a tight knit group of friends. She was loved dearly and will be greatly missed. Dot is survived by her sons Ted Trudon III of Bristol, Scott Trudon and his wife Ashley of HI, Eric Trudon and his wife Cheri of Coventry; stepdaughters Suzy Burton-Kelly and her husband Mel, Jennifer Burton-Reeve her husband John; grandchildren Ted Trudon IV, Alex and Taylor Trudon, Rosie and Turner Trudon; Erika, Rachael and Nichole Trudon, Katie Clukey and her husband Justin, Matthew Burton-Kelly and his wife Alison, Kristin Mailhot and her husband Christian, Allen Burton; Great-grandchildren Ava Trudon, Joshua and Lucas Clukey; brother John Peterson and his wife Diane; sisters Edith Phelps, Evelyn Mahannah and her husband Oliver and many nieces, nephews who she loved dearly. Dot is predeceased by her first husband Theodore Trudon, Jr., and her second husband Henry (Hank) Burton , her stepson James H. Burton and her brothers and sisters Raymond, Art, Mae, Marie, Norma, Ruth, Pinky and Bob. The family is especially grateful to Mary Dombrowski and her family for their loving care and friendship that they gave to Dot for many years as her neighbor. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at a later date.
