Lucille Grimm Obituary

Lucille (Davis) Grimm, 73, of Oak Ridge Drive, Clinton, renowned New England artist passed suddenly in New Haven Tuesday, (October 15, 2002). She was the beloved wife of 49 years of David C. Grimm; devoted mother of Elizabeth J. Grimm of Sanibel Island, FL.; Curt D. Grimm of Silver Spring, MD; and the late Cecilia E. Grimm; mother-in-law of Norman F. Zeigler Jr. and grandmother of Travis M. Zeigler and Katrina E. Zeigler, all of Sanibel Island. She was predeceased by her sister, Ann Rowe Davidson; and also leaves her brother, Ralph N. Davis of Pasos Robles, CA. and nine nieces and nephews. Mrs. Grimm, a graduate of George Peabody College of Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, taught school for several years and was a prolific painter throughout her life. She had exhibited her works in joint and solo exhibitions, and juried shows for the past 50 years. She was the recipient of numerous awards and had been accepted into the Watercolor USA Honor Society and the New England Watercolor Society. Her works are in public and private collections across the country. Mrs. Grimm was an active member and past president of the Shoreline Unitarian Universalist Society of Madison. A memorial service will be held Friday, Nov. 8, 2 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, Madison. A reception will be held afterward at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shoreline Unitarian Universalist Society, 297 Boston Post Road, Madison, 06443.

Mrs. Grimm was a real lady and as we had lived on the street for 10 years knew of her kindness and sharing with our children. A talented and gifted person but down to earth. We extend our sympathy to her family.
