Mark Slye Obituary

Mark Aden Slye

Pelham, AL - Mark Aden Slye, 67, of Pelham, AL, went to his Heavenly home on Friday, February 12, 2021. Born in Macon, GA on April 11, 1953, to Robert Frederick Slye and Martha Hancock Slye. Mark was a loving and devoted husband to his wife of 25 years Carol Corbitt Slye and sons Michael Slye (Mandy) of Mandeville, LA and Jason Slye (Jennifer) of Bay Minette, AL; stepsons Douglas Montague and Brett Montague of Hattiesburg; his cherished grandchildren whom he loved spending time with: Cooper, Emma, Ella, Lucy, and Emery; his brothers Bobby (Wilma) and Billy (Sheila); and several nieces and nephews.

Mark never met a stranger, which not only attributed to his lifelong career in sales, it was also endearing to all who knew him, including the many boys he coached on his son's baseball team for years. He was a superior sportsman and an exceptional practical joker. He attended college at UAB and was an avid Alabama football fan. Mark was a consistent "scratch golfer" for over 3 decades and was a loyal side-betting member of the "Brew Crew" at Timberton Golf Club in Hattiesburg.

Carol, I am so sorry for the loss of your sweet husband, and for all that you’ve both, and the family, have been through for the past year. When you say that Mark never met a stranger, that is so true! He was so personable, and truly a hoot and a half! He kept me in stitches and was so much fun to be around. More than anything, though, it was very obvious how much he adored you, cared for you and loved you. I don’t know many men who would be happy to let their wives bring their mama home to care for her. He was a real gem of a man. I am so thankful to God that you found each other, and had over 25 years together. He will be greatly missed here on Earth, but I bet he has everybody in heaven smiling. I’m so proud to have known him.

Mark was one of the funniest men I've ever met! He allowed me to hang out at his home with his lovely wife Carol many nights . He always had a joke or many jokes to tell. He had a heart of gold. Mostly, I loved how kind he was to me and my daughter.
Mark, you will be missed! Even though I moved and our paths went in different directions I still thought of you and Carol and the love you gave me through good times and bad!

Mark was like a brother to me. Carol, I know how much he loved you and know you loved him in the same was . You are going to miss him so much. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Everyone loved Mark! He was an entertainer with so much joy and enthusiasm for life. He loved his family and was always talking about his beautiful grandchildren. God bless me to have known such a fun-loving and genuine guy that you could always count on when you need him. I missed him so much already and know that heavens gain is our loss. Love you, Mark Slye. Rest In Peace, brother!
