Carolyn Dilcher Obituary

CAROLYN MUTH DILCHER, 64, of Barboursville, West Virginia, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on November 9, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer despite having never smoked a day in her life.
Born on September 7, 1961, in Morgantown, WV, she was the daughter of the late Chester W. and Sarah A. Muth. Carolyn was a 1979 graduate of Morgantown High School and earned her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy in 1984. After graduation, she moved to Huntington, WV, where she began a career in pharmacy initially at the old RevCo before transitioning to Cabell Huntington Hospital.
Carolyn dedicated more than 31 years of service to Cabell Huntington Hospital, spending the last 18 of those years at the Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center, where her compassion and care touched countless lives. Although pharmacists often work behind the scenes, Carolyn went above and beyond personally delivering chemotherapy to her patients' bedsides and taking time to brighten their days with her warmth and kindness. Her commitment to her patients and colleagues reflected both her professionalism and her deeply caring nature. She retired from her pharmacy practice in early 2024.
Carolyn loved traveling with her family, cheering for her beloved WVU Mountaineers, and spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She was a compassionate, witty, strong-willed, and devoted mother, sister, and friend whose strength and humor endured even in the face of adversity.
She is survived by her two children, Brian Dilcher and his wife Kayla (Mitchell) of Morgantown, and Courtney McCloud and her husband Drew of Huntington; her cherished grandchildren Halle and Emmett Dilcher (expected), and Weston, Adalyn, and Eloise McCloud; her beloved siblings Susan (Lin Hou) Muth, William Muth, and Julie Muth; and her brother-in-law Allen Austin, widower of her late sister Sandra Muth. She is also survived by her grand-dogs Charlie, Calvin, and Oakley.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center, Cabell Huntington Hospital, and Hospice of Huntington for their compassion, care, and support throughout Carolyn's journey.
A celebration of her life will be held at Wallace Funeral Home in Barboursville, WV on Wednesday November 12, 2025 from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center or Hospice of Huntington in her memory.
Carolyn's strength and love will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone who knew her.

Tough times don't last, but tough people do and she will last forever in our hearts and minds.
